Mental Health Emergency Contact Update

Mental Health Contact Information: In accordance with the Illinois Student Optional Disclosure of Private Mental Health Act (HB3599), UIC students have the option to designate a person to whom UIC may disclose certain mental health information. UIC will disclose information to this designated person if a physician, clinical psychologist or other qualified examiner employed by UIC makes a determination that the student poses a clear danger to themselves or to others, to protect the student or other person against a clear, imminent risk of serious mental or physical injury, disease, or death. UIC will attempt to contact the designated individual to make this disclosure as soon as practicable, but in no case in more than 24 hours, after such a determination is made. Students are not required to provide a Mental Health Contact.

To enter a Mental Health Contact, go to the my.UIC.edu Portal, and select the Student tab. At the Records option, select the options to update Emergency Contacts and select the Mental Health Contact Emergency Contact type.
